Paul Barton,
Westelcom’s executive Vice President of Operations, has
been promoted to President of the local communications and
technology firm.
Barton, has been a key player the last few years in Westelcom's
executive ranks. He joined the company in 2001 as general
manager, and his been promoted to roles of increasing
responsibility since then. |

In this capacity,
Barton will lead the company’s daily operations in addition to their
strategic and network initiatives within the six county region of
Northern New York.
President Jim Forcier stated, “I could not be more pleased with our
appointment of Paul Barton to the position of President. His tenure and
success within our corporation is a tribute to his ability. Paul’s
unmatchable skill-set, coupled with a strong commitment to this
community, will provide valuable insight to our continuous expansions,
new technological developments, and constant challenges in the telecom
industry.”
When asked what his
plans are with the company, Barton responded: “My immediate and
forthcoming goal as President is to ensure that this company will
design, deliver and support our clients with unsurpassed service.
Further, we will expand our network and product line to gain greater
efficiencies and reduce costs. Our customers will reap those same
rewards.” As
the worlds of voice and data continue to converge, Westelcom’s will be
well positioned to play a strategic role in helping local businesses
realize their objectives to streamline processes, improve customer care
and edge out their own competitors.
The foundation of
Mr. Barton’s success started with the receipt of a Bachelor Degree from
Syracuse University, and two Masters Degrees in Business Administration
from University of West Florida and Science in Electrical Engineering
from Northeastern University, Boston, MA. He began his professional
career with the Air Force and served in the areas of communications,
computers and intelligence for over ten years. After departing with the
rank of Captain in 1994, he had the opportunity to consult for the
United States Department of Defense. In 1996, he returned to the North
Country and founded one of the regions first successful Internet
providers, Geographic Internet Services Company (GiSCO).
An active member of
our community, Mr. Barton serves as a Board Member for the Chamber of
Commerce and is active with many local committees. His wife Jacqueline
and 4 children Benjamin, Jaime, Alexandria, and Lindsay, keep him
occupied year around on local ice rinks and baseball fields. |
