Westelcom Welcomes New Member to the Team

WATERTOWN, NY – August 3, 2009

Westelcom is proud to welcome Bruce Corwin to their team of Engineers. He will assist Westelcom in the position of Network Engineer, overseeing the Fiber Optic projects throughout the city of Watertown. Corwin’s experience, most recently with Frontier Telephone, will help boost the momentum in Westelcom’s ongoing fiber deployment strategy.

Seth Crimmins, the company’s Network Operations manager stated that “Bruce’s knowledge of Fiber Optic technology combined with his drive and competence compliments our mission to deliver the bandwidth that customers today are demanding.” Crimmins explained that their infrastructure will pipe upwards of 10 Gigabytes into local businesses, allowing for greater efficiencies and future growth.

Bruce Corwin stated “Westelcom provides opportunity to increase revenue and customer satisfaction by upgrading the network to a fiber based transport facility. This solution builds upon the existing network to provide more of the North Country businesses with solutions provided in larger markets. Fiber is key to the growth of commerce, tax base, and tourism in the area Westelcom serves. The design is based on extending fiber to existing leased line customers; this ensures the facilities are utilized on the network as they are built. I'm proud to be a part of this forward thinking group of entrepreneurs at Westelcom."

Westelcom recently installed fiber connections into Jefferson Community College, Samaritan Medical Center, Stream, the Jefferson County Office Building, Key Bank Building, Community Bank Building, Elks Building, Brownell Abstract, STAT, City of Watertown, and Channel 7, and over 40 other local businesses. Crimmins also shared that “the existing fiber rings to SMC, the Medical Plaza and throughout downtown have the capacity to bring on hundreds of additional local businesses that are on or near its path.”

Currently, Bruce is attending Rochester Institute of Technology to earn a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and holds an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts and Science from Monroe Community College. Bruce likes to spend his spare time hiking, riding motocross and adding to his educational portfolio. Bruce currently resides in both Watertown and Rochester with his wife Arloween and their 5 children; Elizabeth, Andrew, Dartagnan, Tallynn and Brock.
