Moosehead
Lake is an irregularly shaped lake about 45 miles in length. Kineo Community is at the base of Mount Kineo (state owned),
about 20 miles from the community of Greenville and just across the lake
from Rockville) The community consists of 60-odd properties. The development is in a wildlife sanctuary, and the Kineo
Community Owners Association (KCOA) owns large areas of common land.
Covenants control use of land, access and building (See also
amenities). KCOA is run by an elected president, v-pres, secretary and
treasurer. An annual
meeting occurs usually in mid-summer. Modest dues by local standards are collected to pay for insurance
and maintain and improve KCOA holdings Please
refer to the locations map. Lot 35 with finished building structures
faces to the southwest (House faces south) and is 1.59 acres. There are two small dead-end “tote” roads, abutting on
the NE and SW of the property. Underground
electricity and telephone lines run along the NE side of the property.
The waterfront is rocky, but swimming and access to Kineo Cove can be
readily made. Well: 175 foot drilled well The
private marina is across Kineo Cove on the NW side. An
interesting 9 hole golf course surrounds the Kineo development. The clubhouse is on the NW corner of Kineo Cove KCOA
also owns a quite popular bathing beach (Pebble Beach) on the north side
of Kineo Island. Pebble
Beach is accessible by walking or by golf cart/bicycle along KCOA tote
roads. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, no motor cars or trucks are allowed on the Island, except for construction and maintenance purposes. |
