PRI/T1 Service

Primary Rate Interface (PRI) is also known as Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) PRI or T1 PRI.  A PRI is the high capacity service carried on T1 trunk lines between Westelcom’s central offices and your business. PRI divides a T1 digital signal into 24 channels.  23 of these channels can be assigned one telephone call each, the equivalent of having 23 separate analog telephone lines. The 24th channel is used for signaling information and special features such as caller ID. It is a popular service for call centers which need the automatic number identification (ANI) or caller ID data.
T1 service can be provided as channelized or unchannelized. In a channelized T1, there are 24 channels, with each channel able to be a telephone call. A T1 gives you 24 phone lines in place of the 23 that can be accommodated with a PRI.  A channelized T1 doesn’t provide any capability for ANI or caller ID data. An unchannelized T1 treats all 24 line channels as one with no dedicated phone channels or signaling assigned for switched telephone service.

SIP Trunks

SIP Trunking is an advanced method of connecting your business to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).  A SIP Trunk is a virtual IP based trunk line that uses the Internet to make and receive calls to land-line numbers, cell phone numbers and other VOIP numbers. SIP Trunks are virtual circuits that use your existing Internet connection for physical transport of the voice packets. IP trunks provide Local Number Portability, Direct Inward Dialing, Enhanced 911 Services, and other services provided by PRI/T1 trunks.

Analog

Westelcom provides standard analog telephone services which is sometimes referred to as Plain Old Telephone Services (POTS).  With POTS, your service is hardwired directly into the public switched telephone network (PSTN).  This service is often used with customers who have traditional telephones and a small number of stations.   The higher reliability due to a lesser reliance on electronics positions this service for use on fax machines and alarm lines. This also means you rarely have to worry about your POTS lines being unavailable. In addition, if you are in a rural area or your cell phone reception is not reliable, an analog phone line is a simple and affordable solution to stay connected. We provide a number of plan and feature packages to meet your needs.
