Location: Watertown, Plattsburgh or Syracuse
The Network Engineer has the responsibility of setting up network environments by implementing configuration, documentation, and enforcing system standards; operating and maintaining all types of legacy and next generation local and toll switching technology; provisioning and troubleshooting voice services: Hosted PBX, SIP, and analog voice. Responsibilities also include providing training and guidance to Network Administrators and Technicians; monitoring performance, troubleshoot network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, collaborating with Senior Network Engineers & Architects on network optimization; provide pre-sales Engineering support for customer solutions; provide installation support for customer solutions; participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation; support Network Administrators, Network Operations Center Technicians and Administrators with escalated troubles; develop network documentation, Methods of Procedure, Standard Operating Procedures and schedules as required. This position will require approximately 25% of regional travel.
Bachelor’s degree and four plus years of relevant work experience or six or more years of relevant work experience
Experience with VoIP, SIP, PRI, and analog voice
Experience with Central Office Switching, translations experience preferred
Experience with troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF. Experience with MPLS is preferred
Experience with system and network virtualization using VMware
Experience with router platforms – Juniper and Cisco
Knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, QoS, Multicast, MPLS, L3VPN, L2VPN, and Traffic Engineering using BGP and MPLS-TE
Knowledge of IP Routing Protocols (ISIS, OSPF, BGP)
Knowledge of Ethernet Switching technologies and Protocols
Understanding of Active Ethernet and FTTx
CCNP, JNCIS or similar level industry certification preferred
